The NEPSE indeed ended Thursday with a modest rise, as the index gained 5.82 points to close at 2,782.18, following a day of fluctuating trades. The index reached an intraday high of 2,808 points at 1:07 PM before settling at the closing level.

Total trading volume was NRs 8.82 billion, lower than the previous day’s NRs 1.21 billion.

The increase was largely driven by non-banking sectors, including trade, production and processing, investment, hydropower, hotels and tourism, and development banks. The trade sub-sector led the gains, climbing 2.53%, while banking, finance, life insurance, microfinance, and non-life insurance sub-sectors saw mixed movements.

Among 268 listed companies, 98 saw their share prices rise, 158 declined, and 12 remained unchanged. Six companies hit the positive 10% circuit limit: Reliance Spinning Mills, Super Khudi Hydropower, Rizline Energy, Suryakund Hydroelectric, Bhujung Hydropower, and Hotel Forest Inn. Other notable gainers included Saptakoshi Development Bank (+7.42%) and Srinagar Agritech (+5.73%), while Bhugol Energy (-3.06%), Crest Microfinance (-2.65%), and Abhiyan Laghubitta (-2.62%) were the top decliners.

SY Panel led trading with NRs 357 million, followed by Ngadi Group Power (NRs 309.2 million) and Himalayan Reinsurance (NRs 296.5 million). Other actively traded companies included NRN Infrastructure and API Power.

Thursday’s trading reflects a slight recovery after Wednesday’s 74.73-point drop, with market momentum supported by non-banking sectors and recently listed companies.

Compared to last week, the index has fallen by almost 168 points. Last week, the market closed at 2,950.16. This week, total turnover amounted to NRs 60.02 billion rupees compared to last week’s weekly turnover of NRs 82.47 billion.
