NEPSE gains 13.51 points, Hydropower leads market rally

NEPSE climbed 13.51 points to reach 2,812 on Tuesday, led by strong gains in the hydropower sector, while trading turnover increases only modestly

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index rose by 13.51 points on Tuesday, reaching 2,812.34 points, reflecting a modest gain in the market.

Trading turnover also saw a slight increase. While the previous session recorded transactions worth NRs 11.97 billion, Tuesday’s trading climbed to NRs 12.03 billion.

Out of the traded companies, share prices of 132 firms increased, 113 declined, and 17 remained unchanged.

Among sectoral indices, the hydropower group posted the highest gain of 1.59%. Other sectors that advanced include banking (0.84%), development banks (0.64%), investment (0.61%), and manufacturing and processing (0.29%).

On the downside, the finance sector dropped by 0.19%, hotels and tourism by 0.17%, life insurance by 0.31%, microfinance by 0.26%, non-life insurance by 0.03%, trading by 0.21%, and others by 0.10%.

Shares of four companies surged by the daily maximum of 10%: Reliance Spinning Mills, Solu Hydropower, Salpa Development Bank, and Hotel Forest Inn. Meanwhile, Shivashree Hydropower rose by 8.1%, Liberty Energy by 7.53%, Mahuli Laghubitta by 6.44%, and Nyadi Hydropower by 6.16%.

In contrast, Upper Hewakhola Hydropower, Jhapa Energy, Swarojgar Laghubitta, and Oriental Hotels saw a decline of around 2% each.

The most actively traded companies of the day included Ridi Hydropower, Ankhu Khola Hydropower, National Hydropower, Himal Dolakha Hydropower, and Shivashree Hydropower.
