With so much happening, why not step out and discover what’s going on around the city?
From an awaited annual international film festival to a fun robotic tech exhibition, here’s what’s happening.
9th Nepal International Film Festival
The week is a great time for all the cinephiles as the Nepal International Film Festival, one of the pioneering annual film festivals, is back with its ninth edition. The festival is not only a space for aspiring filmmakers, artists or cinema lovers from diverse backgrounds to come together and celebrate cinema, but also provides a platform for engaging and insightful discourse through its forum. These sessions invite guests from films, media and entertainment sectors to engage in dialogue on multi-dimensional issues in art, cinema and society.
From documentaries and student films to AI-driven creations, the festival features a wide range of competing categories. Organised by Nepal Film and Cultural Academy (NFCA), a non-profit organisation, the festival aims to promote film culture in the country. This edition will be hosted simultaneously at QFX Cinema Venues across Kathmandu Valley and the Nepal Tourism Board.

Story Cloths Public Exhibition
As March, a month that celebrates women, comes to an end this week, Sajha Dhago, a mental health organisation supporting women and queer survivors of violence, is organising an exhibition. The organisation’s roots trace back to 2014, when Common Threads Project supported refugee women in Nepal using sewing and storytelling for trauma recovery. Today, it operates as an independent organisation reaching community-level survivors of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV), disasters, conflict and displacement.
As the organisation marks its fourth anniversary, the exhibition is being held to tell stories of resilience, healing, and hope through hand-stitched cloths crafted by survivors in the community.
