Government honours top taxpayers across 16 categories on national tax day

The Inland Revenue Department honoured top contributors across 16 categories for transparency, timely compliance and high revenue.

The government honoured top taxpayers across 16 categories on the occasion of National Tax Day on November 17, recognising those who made the highest contributions to national revenue through transparent practices and timely compliance. Officials said the day aims to strengthen policy dialogue, trust, and long-term cooperation between tax administrators and taxpayers.

Among the awardees, Nepal Telecommunications Authority received recognition for recording the highest income tax payment among public institutions, while Third Eye International was honoured for the highest income tax contribution among proprietary firms.

In the export sector, Dabur Nepal Pvt. Ltd. was acknowledged as the top income tax payer among commodity exporters. In the IT services export category, Verisk Nepal Pvt. Ltd. received the award for highest tax contribution.

The agriculture and livestock industry category went to Poshak Breeder Farm Pvt. Ltd., while Nepal Investment Mega Bank Ltd. was recognised for contributing the most income tax among banks, financial institutions, and insurance companies. In the health and education sector, Nobel Medical College Teaching Hospital Ltd. was awarded.

In tourism, Soaltee Hotel Ltd. received the recognition for highest income tax payment. Bhatbhateni Super Market and Departmental Store Pvt. Ltd. topped the goods trading category based on FY 2023/24 (2080/81) income.

In the turnover categories, CDS and Clearing Ltd. was recognised among businesses with annual transactions between NRs 500 million and NRs 1 billion, while Bhotekoshi Power Company Pvt. Ltd. topped in the energy sector.

In the remittance and money transfer business, IME Ltd. received the top honour. Raj Bahadur Shah was recognised for contributing the highest personal income tax.

Nepal Telecom received a special recognition for its role in VAT compliance. The company was honoured as the taxpayer with the highest regular VAT submissions for the tax period from mid-July 2019 (Shrawan 2076) to mid-July 2025 (Ashadh 2082), having consistently filed VAT returns and corresponding payments on time for six consecutive years.

Among businesses with an annual turnover of up to NRs 500 million, VFS Services (Mauritius) Pvt. Ltd. topped income tax contributions. Unilever Nepal Ltd. was recognised as the leading taxpayer among special industries.
